Hello and Happy 2016 everyone! I hope the New Year is treating you well so far. I love this time of year because it is so new and full of possibilities. I genuinely have a good feeling about 2016 and think it will be a great year for my hair. I know most people think New Year’s Resolutions are a waste of time, but I personally like making goals and working towards completing them. I made a list of resolutions last year that I fell short on but rather than be discouraged, it just motivates me to stay on track this year. So without further ado, here are my 2016 hair resolutions.

  • Reach Waist Length
As you can see in the picture above, I am so close to waist length (I’d say I’m two to three inches away). I was pretty much expecting to reach waist length by November but I think I can make it by summer, even with a small trim (I can’t remember my last trim ::hangs head in shame::). Seeing how close I am has made me want to buckle down and get serious about my diet, regimen and start using my sulfur mix again.
  • Successfully Flat Iron
Seriously, the fact that I have yet to successfully straighten my hair after three years of being natural is really bugging me. I’m not sure when I’m going to flat iron (I originally said April or May, but I’m toying with the idea of waiting until November), but I will be thoroughly researching how to get the silkiest non heat damaged straight hair I can.
  • Try Out More Styles
Not only do I want to get better at doing “out” styles like braidouts and bantu knot outs, I also want to step up my styling game period. I see a lot of gorgeous updos online and really want to try them out. Which leads to my next resolution…

  • Take More Hair Pictures
While writing my 2015 hair recap, I went searching for pictures of my hair to add but came up short. Then after looking through my Instagram, I realized that the last hair picture I posted was in July. Since this is primarily a hair blog (see the URL lol), that is slightly embarrassing lol. I don’t take many hair pictures because, more often than not, my hair is tucked away in braids or twists (mine are not picture worthy, trust me) and I am still kind of style challenged. But nonetheless, I will be making more of an effort in 2016 to remember to take pictures of my hair.
  • Post Consistently (Once or Twice Per Week)
  • Limit Spending on Beauty Products (Hair/Makeup/Skincare/Nails)
I don’t think this one will be hard because I’m pretty set with hair products. I’m not going to lie, I am looking for a new deep conditioner just to try something new (this one is still my favorite though). Makeup, nail polish and skincare products are a bit trickier because I literally find something else I “need” all the time 🙁 I’m not going to set hard limits because ultimately I will be reviewing any beauty purchases I make, so my goal is to only try a few new products each month.
  • Eat Better
I want to improve my diet not only to benefit my hair, but my skin as well. I want to drink more water and eat more vegetables, fruits and protein. This resolution also includes being more consistent with my vitamins.

So those are my hair resolutions and goals for 2016. I will update at the end of the year just to keep myself accountable and to see how successful I was.
